After winning the Garnier pitch we created the 'beauty bank' which built a list of customers which were segmented and targeted by age, skin type and product preference (ie:hair colour users). 
Door drops started the process with a simple competition and followed on by various questionnaires including online versions.
This was fulfilled by coupons and samples.
